Director of Latin America Strategy

Remote Anywhere in the US, Latin America or the Caribbean

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Geographic Location

Terrific Director of Latin America Strategy position with an international conservation nonprofit. The Director will research, identify and manage a portfolio of new and existing conservation projects within the Latin America region, working closely with internal and external partners. The Director will manage and mentor a team of two Conservation Strategists. Candidates should have approximately 7+ years of relevant conservation experience, time in a management role is a plus. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus. The position currently operates remotely and can be based anywhere in the U.S., Latin America or the Caribbean.

Responsibilities:

Lead engagement strategy for the Latin America regions conservation efforts
Prospect for new partnerships and projects within the region
Lead project development and provide due diligence for new projects and grantees
Collaborate with funders to ensure alignment to regional strategy
Navigate government channels to push forward projects
Present project proposals to the Board, as needed
Manage and mentor a team of two across the Latin America region
Travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel

Qualifications:

Approximately 7 + years of relevant conservation experience; time in a management role is a plus
Experience with establishment and management of protected areas
Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, including governments, NGOs, local communities, education and research organizations, and other related partners
Excellent project management skills
Written and verbal fluency in English; Portuguese or Spanish a plus
Experience using Microsoft Office and ArcGIS a plus
Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
