Marguerite’s Place empowers New Hampshire families to thrive. Family homelessness is a challenging, multi-faceted issue with both immediate and long-term generational effects. Through our whole-family services and individualized support, we help families transition from crisis to stability, achieve sustainable success, and lead fulfilling lives. Over our 30+ year history, we have supported thousands of low-income Nashua families through residential and community-based programs.
The Role
As Marguerite’s Place lays the groundwork for an exciting $8 million capital campaign, we are seeking a Director of Development to lead and expand our fundraising strategy to support our organizational and programmatic evolution. This role is ideal for a strategic, people-centered professional with experience in nonprofit fundraising and major gift fundraising in particular. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will oversee all aspects of annual and campaign fundraising, donor relations, and development strategy, while managing a team and working closely with the Board of Directors.
The Director of Development will lead a highly productive and positive fundraising team consisting of two full-time staff members (a Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager and Development and Marketing Manager) and interface with vendors/consultants related to event planning and the capital campaign. The role will also benefit from a highly collaborative and fundraising-oriented Executive Director and Board Chair, as well as the comprehensive resources created by our campaign counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that integrates multiple revenue streams, including individual, corporate, foundation, and event-based giving.
- Alongside the Executive Director, board, and Campaign Committee, engage in capital campaign fundraising with a priority on fostering six-figure gifts.
- Implement the campaign plan created by campaign counsel and approved by executive leadership and board.
- Lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with a focus on managing a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.
- Build and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundations.
- Oversee foundation strategy, including grant writing, reporting, and relationship management.
- Lead and oversee all fundraising events, working with vendors and staff to ensure successful execution.
- Create and execute a corporate giving program with defined giving levels, naming opportunities, and sponsorship benefits.
- Work with the Board of Directors and manage the Campaign Committee, engaging both groups in in donor outreach, fundraising efforts, and stewardship.
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Development team, including overseeing staff and vendors supporting grants, events, and marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and community needs.
- Develop metrics and reporting systems to track fundraising performance and donor engagement.
- Ensure effective use of donor database (CRM) for prospect tracking, donor engagement, and gift acknowledgment.
- Align development strategies with communications efforts to elevate community awareness and branding for Marguerite’s Place.
Marketing Oversight
- Ensure seamless integration of marketing and donor messaging, collaborating with the communications team.
- Promote Marguerite’s Place through networking, community engagement, and speaking opportunities.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience and increased responsibility in fundraising, corporate sales, or customer service, with a proven ability to build and maintain donor/client relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience securing major gifts and stewarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; grant writing experience preferred.
- Capital campaign fundraising experience preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in managing staff, with a track record of positive coaching and development of collaborative teams.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience leading strategic initiatives and tracking measurable outcomes.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with board members, donors, and community partners.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and self-motivated with strong project management skills.
- Passion for the mission of Marguerite’s Place.
Role Details
- This role is hybrid: While this role requires a frequent in-person presence to facilitate key community and staff relationships, we value flexibility and support remote work options.
- 40 hours per week, with networking and occasional night/weekend event attendance required.
- Salary range: $95k - $105k
