Parents Against Vaping e-cigarettes (PAVe) is a national education and advocacy nonprofit powered by parent volunteers who seek to protect kids from the predatory practices of Big Tobacco. PAVe educates about the dangers of youth vaping and nicotine use and empowers parents to advocate at the local, state and national levels and has become the national parent voice in this arena.
The primary function of the Education Program Manager is to implement PAVe’s national-level virtual (and infrequently, in person) education events in collaboration with fellow team members, partners and expert speakers. This effort serves parent(s)/primary caregiver(s)/families, activists, public health advocates, youth, state and local municipalities among other audiences.
Other responsibilities may include:
Program Development:
- Support and maintain current Program Development initiatives
- Train and support PAVe volunteers in educational programming
- Manage Training Initiatives:
- Prepare and present trainings
- Serve as point of contact for trainees (e.g., respond to trainee questions, tracking participation and conducting evaluations, etc.)
- Coordinate with team members on all areas of Program Development execution
Marketing & Strategic Communications:
- Oversee digital communications efforts including campaign planning, development and execution
- Assist in marketing of educational program to potential audiences (parents, community groups, school PTAs, school administrators)
- Communicate with PAVe volunteers for trainings, materials and planning meetings
- Speaker preparation for PAVe’s for virtual conference series featuring parents and other experts
Grants Administration and Coordination:
- Lead grant reporting fulfilling requirements in timely manner
- Seek and pursue grant and funding sources
- Ability or willingness to learn how to research and write grant proposals
Position requirements:
- Three (3) years experience in health promotion, health education, or outcomes-oriented public health program planning highly preferred
- Grant writing a plus but not required
- Work experience in public health or social cause-related issues
- Excellent writing, public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to work remotely, as part of a collaborative team with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Occasional travel to speaking engagements and conferences as necessary
Flexible time availability, including occasional evenings when presentations are scheduled. Please note this is a part-time consulting (1099) position and does not include benefits. Manager expected to use their own computer and phone.
