Overview: We are conducting an executive search for a Chief Development Officer (CDO) on behalf of one of the most prominent not-for-profit organizations in the Southeast. The selected CDO will be a key executive team member, reporting directly to the President & CEO. The CDO will lead all aspects of the organization's fundraising efforts, overseeing a team of direct reports and managing relationships with outsourced partners. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with a hands-on CEO while maintaining the independence to drive results. The CDO will play a crucial role in driving innovative fundraising initiatives, leading capital campaigns, shaping marketing strategies, engaging donors, and fostering impactful community relationships, with a focus on both local and national outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational goals, ensuring the growth and diversification of all funding streams.
- Capital Campaign Management: Lead and manage capital campaigns, ensuring effective execution and alignment with the organization’s mission.
- Major Gifts and Relationship Management: Cultivate relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and grant-making entities, with an emphasis on expanding engagement within Atlanta's philanthropic landscape and beyond.
- Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and guide a high-performing development team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Utilize data-driven insights to amplify fundraising impact and measure outcomes effectively.
- Strategic Integration: Integrate fundraising efforts with volunteer programs to maximize community engagement and support.

Qualifications:

Reporting Structure: The CDO will report directly to the President & CEO, forming an integral partnership to collaboratively drive the organization forward. Additionally, the CDO will engage with and report to the board, ensuring strategic alignment and effective communication between the executive leadership team and the governing body.
