Case Manager

Salary: $51,000 per year (paid hourly), based on experience (Non-exempt position)
Terrific Case Manager position with a social and human services nonprofit in the New York City area. The Case Manager will join a cohesive team providing direct services to a caseload of clients at risk of homelessness and housing instability. The position will conduct intake and assessments for all clients to determine program eligibility, as well as develop service plans for those that participate. Ideal candidates should have a high level of emotional intelligence along with excellent communication skills. Bachelor's degree in social work or a relevant field is required. One year of relevant work experience is preferred; new and recent graduates will be considered. The annual salary is up to $51,000 per year (paid hourly), based on experience. This is a non-exempt position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct homeless prevention services to clients and their households
- Conduct intakes, assessments, counseling, advocacy, exit summaries, and follow-up with all clients
- Determine initial program eligibility and follow-up every 90 days
- Assess risk and housing crisis levels; develop appropriate strategies for each client
- Conduct in-person assessments of housing
- Assist clients in completing personal budgets
- Collect all documentation needed for applications and funder documentation
- Attend all training sessions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work or another related field is required
- One year of relevant work experience is preferred
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Ability to travel in NYC for inspections
- Empathetic and ability to work face-to-face with clients
- Technologically savvy
- Knowledge of NYC housing subsidies and housing court a plus
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish, French or West African)
