Job Title: Summer Day Camp Manager
Status: Full-Time (seasonal)
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Summer Day Camp Manager supports the potential of all youth by leading day-to-day operations of Summer Day Camp ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, coordination and scheduling of all Summer Day Camp staff.
2. Assists Summer Day Camp Director with financial responsibilities as needed.
3. Supports SDC Director in planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
4. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
5. Attends/Facilitates staff meetings and trainings.
6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
7. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
8. Actively participates in department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must meet state licensing requirements to act as SDC Director as needed
2. At Least 18 years of age
3. At least 1 year experience in supervision, customer service, education or equivalent field
4. Previous experience working with children aged 4-12 years, preferably in a day camp setting
5. Ability to supervise and play with children in a pool setting required
6. Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
7. Demonstrated success working independently with attention to detail required
8. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games or art
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
