Abortion Freedom Fund (AFF) is a national abortion fund that helps pay for abortion pills by mail, while also supporting and uplifting all avenues of abortion care and access. Our goal is to amplify the work of local abortion funds and their communities, as well as support abortion pill providers and individual abortion seekers. We support accessible, affordable, evidence-based abortion pills by mail for all. Our mission is to help pregnant people take control of their healthcare and futures by dismantling medicalized control of abortion and encouraging a world where abortion pills are available over-the-counter.
Position Overview
To date, the organization has been run by its three co-founders under a fiscal sponsorship agreement. Now, AFF has established its own 501(c)(3) status and seeks passionate, committed, highly organized, and emotionally intelligent individuals to apply for its co-Executive Director positions. The ideal candidates will be experienced in building up and leading an abortion fund, practical support organization, or other abortion advocacy organization. Candidates should be prepared for the challenges that lie ahead under the new presidential administration - particularly those related to the provision of abortion medication via mail - while also working collaboratively together, along with the Board of Directors, to streamline and expand AFF’s funding processes and reach. These positions are a fantastic opportunity for any individuals who are interested in working with telehealth abortion providers to help build an abortion fund from the ground up. The co-EDs will report directly to AFF’s Board of Directors.
AFF is a remote workplace and we understand the often taxing nature of abortion movement work. The co-Executive Director positions are exempt, full-time positions. While the amount of work expected of the co-Executive Directors will change from week to week, we do not anticipate that the co-Executive Directors will have to work more than 32-36 hours in a given week. Given the remote nature of the work, these positions also do not have a set working time expectation (i.e., 9AM to 5PM ET).
