The UDW Resource Center (URC) is a dynamic nonprofit workers center that provides organizing support, training and education with caregivers in the public and private sectors throughout California. URC is a space for these workers to organize themselves for better wages and working conditions, to change the care economy to benefit all Californians, and to organize for social, racial, and economic justice. We are dedicated to promoting the dignity and wellbeing of caregivers through leadership development, education, and material support such as food, housing, and healthcare. This program seeks a highly motivated individual with experience in case manager and immigration services to work in our Gateway to Citizenship Initiative that will help care workers apply for citizenship, residency, and employment authorization renewals. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing and filing, N-400, Application for Naturalization, I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card
- Manage and organize electronic client files with attention to detail and maintaining the accuracy of all relevant documentation
- Utilize online software and programs effectively to streamline workflow and enhance efficiency
- Conduct thorough research on immigration laws and procedures to support case preparation
- Maintain regular and effective communication with our office team via videoconference and other platforms during office hours
- Provide timely updates to clients and the team on the progress of their cases, ensuring that all parties are informed and supported
- Demonstrate resourcefulness in finding creative solutions to complex immigration cases
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys and other paralegals, fostering a positive and cohesive team environment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Work, Political Science, or a related fields preferred or 2 to 3 years equivalent work experience in immigration services or
- Experience in immigration case management, including familiarity with the N-400, I-765, and I-90 forms and procedures.
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese
Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
- Certification as an Immigration Specialist or related accreditation is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and managing client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Prior experience in conducting and facilitating citizenship classes or workshops is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with immigration procedures and legal terminology is essential. Ability to work in a bilingual, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual environment.
- Proficiency in using immigration software and programs to manage client data and streamline workflow.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating citizen classes.
- Ability to utilize telephonic interpreter/translation services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential.
- Being a notary public is a plus
