Position Overview
Herzl Camp is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Advancement to lead and innovate in all areas of development. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this individual will serve as a strategic leader, collaborative partner, and passionate advocate for Herzl Camp’s mission. The Director of Advancement will work closely with both the Herzl Camp Association Board and the Foundation Board of Directors to ensure alignment and success across governance and fundraising initiatives.
This role calls for an individual with proven experience in managing teams, partnering with boards, and leading complex campaigns, including annual, capital, and benefit campaigns, as well as grant writing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to follow-through while fostering a culture of collaboration, positivity, and, of course, fun.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- ● Partner with the Executive Director to design and execute a comprehensive advancement plan that reflects Herzl Camp’s mission and values.
- ● Collaborate with the Association and Foundation Boards to ensure strategic alignment, effective governance, and resourceful decision-making.
- ● Serve as an integral member of the senior leadership team, aligning development strategies with programmatic and operational goals.
- ● Act as a mentor and resource for staff and volunteers, providing support and inspiration to fundraising efforts.
Fundraising and Donor Relations
- ● Build and sustain meaningful relationships with donors, foundations, corporations, and community stakeholders.
- ● Lead the planning and execution of diverse campaigns, including annual, capital, and benefit campaigns, ensuring their success through innovative strategies and compelling storytelling.
- ● Write and secure grants to expand funding opportunities for Herzl Camp’s programs and infrastructure.
- ● Develop tailored approaches to donor engagement, ensuring a strong, loyal, and growing base of support.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- ● Manage and inspire a team of staff, loyal alumni, and dedicated volunteers, fostering a collaborative and purpose-driven culture.
- ● Partner effectively the Executive Director, embracing a spirit of teamwork to achieve shared goals.
- ● Recognize and leverage the unique talents of the full team, engaging them in fundraising efforts where their strengths and connections can make a difference.

Operations and Analytics
- ● Oversee donor database management, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of records and communications.
- ● Use data and metrics to evaluate the success of fundraising initiatives, providing regular updates to the Executive Director and boards.
- ● Maintain and refine systems and processes to support effective advancement operations. Communications and Storytelling
- ● Share Herzl Camp’s mission with authenticity and passion, creating narratives that inspire giving and deepen community connections.
- ● Lead the creation of engaging marketing and communication materials that reflect Herzl Camp’s inclusive and values-driven culture.
Qualifications
- ● A deep passion for Herzl Camp’s mission of building resilient, confident youth rooted in Herzl Camp’s values.
- ● Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or relevant certifications preferred.
- ● 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of managing donor
- relationships, soliciting major gifts, and leading successful campaigns.
- ● Strong experience working collaboratively with boards, including fostering governance
- excellence and accountability.
- ● Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire teams, creating a culture of collaboration and shared
- purpose.
- ● Exceptional skills in grant writing, event planning, and donor engagement.
- ● Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and proficiency in donor
- management systems.
