Senior Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to elderly residents of Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties since 1972. The highest priority of the organization is to defend the right of the elderly to quality health care, social integration, to secure their persons and property, and to be free of discrimination based on age or disability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides leadership to the organization’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain its work, including planned, annual and deferred giving, approaches to individuals, foundations, and corporations.
· Manage all aspects of grant writing, reporting, and tracking including funds received from private foundations, state or other agency sources.
· Provide support on grant applications and prepare grant proposals or other application documents as directed.
· Lead and manage individual fundraising activities to cultivate and secure donations from individual donors.
· Manages the overall marketing and promotional functions to construct and market an appropriate image, develop ties with the community, and achieve client outreach goals.
· Establish and maintain a process for tracking and reporting on prospect and donor communications, commitments, gifts.
· Develop and manage an individual giving campaign with current and prospective donors.
· Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, other senior providers, and community organizations.
· Provide input on ways to improve structures, efficiency, and overall progress of organization.
· Coordinates with all staff to ensure attendance at partner/funder events.
· Other development activities as needed to achieve Senior Legal Services’ funding objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communication or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and grant writing, with a proven track record of success in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and special events.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling communications and marketing materials.
· Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers.
· Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
· A deep commitment to the mission and values of our organization.
