Position Summary
The Development Analyst is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the development team’s data strategy for a portfolio of Fortune 500 companies, anchor institutions, community foundations, individual donors and alumni, as well as supporting proposal writing and grant reporting for the department. The role focuses on knowledge management, Salesforce maintenance, and the implementation of standard operating procedures. Specific responsibilities include tracking gifts, building reports, inputting data into Salesforce, cleaning data, maintaining contact lists, conducting research, and providing administrative support to the development team as needed. This position reports to the Director of Development, and works closely with the Development Team, Data Strategy and Innovation Team, and Executive Assistant to the CEO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accuracy of Salesforce data and donor tracking system for the development team’s entire portfolio
- In partnership with the development team, support with developing, managing, and implementing data strategies to improve the team’s efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation
- Accurately track gifts, activities, outreach, and fundraising campaigns to ensure knowledge is accessible for the entire team
- Build and maintain reports to track ICIC’s fundraising on an ongoing basis, identifying areas for increased performance and devising strategies for improving results. This includes having a clear understanding of the team’s collective and individual annual goals, as well as annual budget forecasting for the year.
- Work closely with other departments within ICIC, such as the Data Strategy and Innovation, Finance, and Communications teams, to ensure clear lines of communication and effective coordination around data management and information sharing
- Provide support to the development team around portfolios including, but not limited to: scheduling and follow-up on business development meetings, background research and prep materials for meetings and cultivation, and other projects as needed
- Support the grant application and reporting process by drafting narratives and application responses, tracking deliverables and communicating across the organization to retrieve specific data and financial information
- Meticulous note taking (for tracking in Salesforce and/or sharing among the team) and follow-through
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
A successful candidate is a detail-oriented, organized, and communicative professional that has at least two years of administrative and/or nonprofit work experience or comparable education, with particular emphasis on data management, writing, and project management. In addition, this person should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and hard-working environment. This person will be inspired by ICIC’s mission and vision, which consists of eliminating concentrated poverty and closing the racial wealth gap with an emphasis on supporting small businesses across the U.S. The ideal candidate will have:
- 1-2 years of experience in data management, administration, fundraising, or a related field, or equivalent education in non-profit management.
- Finely tuned written and communications skills with an ability to understand and convey ICIC’s research, programs, priorities, and issues to a wide range of audiences
- Demonstrated experience professionally navigating a Customer Relations Management (CRM) platform (Salesforce preferred), building reports, and communicating technical information
- Ability to learn, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency
- Team player inclination: collaborative, communicative, solutions-oriented, and able to work with other departments to complete cross-functional projects
- Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills, including problem solving and overcoming challenges
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
